• My birth story

    May 19, 2017 Hels

I wanted to write this for a while, but it wasn’t something I could write immediately, and it wasn’t something I was sure about sharing, but here goes. I apologise, it’s a bit of a long one! Dougie’s due date was September 8th, a date that stuck out whenever I looked at a calendar, or if any plans were mentioned, I’d think of the dates only in relation to my due date. I knew the statistics, only 5% of babies…

  • Things I’ve learnt…

    August 11, 2016 Hels

Today, I’m 36 weeks pregnant, and I should have around four weeks to go. Why no-one properly explains that technically pregnancy lasts 10 months is beyond me. Pregnancy has definitely been one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life, so I thought I’d put together a list of a few things I’ve learnt throughout my pregnancy, I’m sure they’re things most parents, or soon-to-be parents can relate to!

  • Baby shower

    July 26, 2016 Hels

This weekend was my baby shower. I know it’s quite an American thing to do, but I wanted to do something that meant I could get all my friends and family together before the baby arrives…

  • Maternity lookbook

    July 18, 2016 Hels

Dressing for pregnancy is a funny thing. On one hand, I was excited that I got to buy a whole new wardrobe, on the other I was a bit distressed that I would a) therefore have to spend money on a whole new wardrobe that b) could only be worn for a few months…

  • Keep it positive

    July 13, 2016 Hels

I promise this is a happy post, not a big moan, so just bear with me! I had one of those days this weekend where I felt like everything was just too much. Every part of me was hurting; I had a headache, backache, swollen feet and carpal tunnel-y hands (that’s a fun pregnancy thing!) and while I love feeling our little Coconut move, I was repeatedly being kicked in the ribs which can get very uncomfortable.

  • The home stretch

    June 29, 2016 Hels

It’s finally here, the third trimester, the “home stretch” as all my pregnancy books call it. There’s just over 10 weeks to go until Cabbage is here, and it’s all getting extremely real… We’re ordering nursery items, attending antenatal classes, and I’m refusing to believe I can physically get any bigger. While it’s lovely hearing from people that I’ve got that pregnancy glow (although I’ll be honest, I still struggle to smile and look pleased when people gasp and say…

  • A very pregnant summer

    June 8, 2016 Hels

So…being pregnant in hot weather is fun. Really…really…fun. Who doesn’t love swollen ankles, hot flushes and watching other people enjoy a cold glass of wine on a warm, summer’s evening while you sit and sip yet another glass of tap water or lemonade? Plus, of course, you have the added weight of an extra tiny human to carry around with you.

  • Babymoon lookbook

    May 30, 2016 Hels

Finding maternity clothes that I feel good in is something I’ve found quite difficult throughout my pregnancy. I’ve found that bodycon clothes are infinitely better than big, baggy outfits. The beautiful sunshine we got on our babymoon meant that it was time to sort out some summery maternity clothes, so I thought I’d put together a lookbook of some of the outfits I wore on my babymoon…
