• All the little things: July

    August 3, 2017 Hels

We seem to be hurtling towards the end of the year. July was fairly busy but a really nice month, I got to see a lot of friends and family. My Dad came down to look after Dougie while Sam was away and it was lovely to see him, and we’ve been doing a lot of wedding planning which is exciting!

  • Baby photoshoot with Barrett and Coe

    July 17, 2017 Hels

While my camera roll is completely full of shots of Dougie – blurred photos of crawling, awkward selfies and messy teatime images – I’ve always wanted some more professional photos that we can share with our families and hang up proudly in our home.

  • A day in the life

    June 20, 2017 Hels

I love reading posts about people’s day-to-day life on their blogs, I think they’re such a fun way to get to know them and get more of an insight into their life – which is often a little different to a carefully selected image on Instagram or a quick, 140-character tweet!

  • My birth story

    May 19, 2017 Hels

I wanted to write this for a while, but it wasn’t something I could write immediately, and it wasn’t something I was sure about sharing, but here goes. I apologise, it’s a bit of a long one! I knew the statistics, only 5% of babies…

  • Eight months old

    May 17, 2017 Hels

I wrote about Dougie when he was six months old, and I wasn’t going to write another update for a while, but so much has changed, I just had to write something. Today Dougie is eight months old. Last time I wrote, he could get himself from his back onto his front, and wiggle around in his cot a bit. He’s now crawling, he doesn’t stay still. I don’t know where he gets his energy from, I wish I could…

  • Baby AND a social life?

    May 1, 2017 Hels

Does having a baby mean giving up your social life? I recently read this post by the lovely Sarah which hit the nail on the head, and got me thinking. Every so often I go on Facebook or Twitter or wherever, and I see posts such as: “Everyone I know is like: ‘Hey, I’m getting married/having a baby’ and I’m like: ‘I’m planning my travels around the world” …Or something similar, and it always wound me up a little –…

  • First family holiday

    April 5, 2017 Hels

I’ve spent the last week in Portugal with Sam and Dougie, our first family holiday. It was such a lovely week, although holidaying with a baby does not lend itself to a chilled, relaxing week by the pool! We went to Carvoeiro in the Algarve. It was actually where Sam and I went for our babymoon (i.e an excuse to go on holiday before Dougie was born) but we loved it before and had been struck by how family-friendly it…
