  • Blogger Book Nook #5: Judge a book by its cover

    January 9, 2018 Hels

Do you ever judge a book by its cover? That was this months Blogger Book Nook prompt. I’ve really enjoyed doing these reading prompts over the last few months, I’ve found they’ve really encouraged me to read more, and choose books that I wouldn’t ordinarily choose. Which book currently on your shelf has the most beautiful cover? I think all my Penguin Classics have the most beautiful covers, which were the main reason I bought them. I was so drawn…

  • Blogger Book Nook #4: Christmas

    December 19, 2017 Hels

Book in hand, hot chocolate (or mulled wine) on the side and mince pies within reach… I’m SO excited for the Christmas break! I love curling up on the sofa under a blanket, watching Christmas films and doing lots of reading, and I’ve been making a huge effort to read lots to Dougie as well, which is really special. This year we’re heading to my family home in Leicester for Christmas Day and I can’t wait. This month, Blogger Book…

    October 4, 2017 Hels

The lovely Abbey and Tabitha started the Blogger Book Nook (a bloggers reading group) last month, and I was really excited to have a little extra motivation for reading. • The Throwaway Children – Diney Costeloe

    May 7, 2016 Hels

The Throwaway Children (Diney Costeloe, 2015) caught my eye when I was looking for something new to read. I love books set in the war, and although this was set just after, a key focus in the story is the effect the war had on Britain, and Britain’s children.

  • Toby’s Room – Pat Barker

    April 30, 2016 Hels

Pat Barker’s Regeneration was the book that got me interested in war literature. It was part of a trilogy known as the Regeneration Trilogy and I absolutely loved all three of the novels. I had been meaning to read Toby’s Room (2012) for a while, and was pleased when I finally had the time to do so.
