All the little things: August
It’s been a couple of months since I’ve done one of these posts, I just looked back over my blog and realised the last monthly moments post I did was May!
As a family, we’ve had quite a lot going on, and work and Dougie have been keeping me pretty busy. I’ve also been working hard on plenty of book posts and Instagram content, and I’ve had a bit of a refresh of my blog and Instagram and I’m pretty pleased with them both.
So, here are some of my favourite moments from August…
I’m so proud of how much I’ve been reading this year. August was a pretty good month for reading, but I think The Light Between Oceans has been my favourite book this month. It was the book chosen for the first Blogger Book Club chat, which is something I’ve launched this month, and it was definitely a good choice, I absolutely loved it.
Sam and I have been watched The Affair season 4 this month. We both loved seasons 1 and 2 but 3 seemed a bit ridiculous. However, season 4 definitely made up for this – there was actually very little reference to events from season 3 in it. There was a huge, shocking twist in this series which I didn’t see coming at all but I thought it was brilliantly done, and I’m looking forward to season 5. We’ve also just started watching Bodyguard, which began last weekend on BBC1 and it’s SO good!
I haven’t really bought much this month I don’t think. My Pela phone case has been a good investment though, I love it. I’ve also bought a ridiculous amount of books this month and I can’t wait to start reading them.
I can’t quite believe my baby will be two years old in just a couple of weeks. It seems like only yesterday he was a tiny, chubby red bundle we were bringing home from the hospital. I’ve absolutely loved watching him grow over these last couple of months. He’s such a little person now. He doesn’t have a huge vocabulary yet, but he communicates, and he understands everything. Each morning I’m awoken by shrieks of MAMA, MAMA, MAMA on repeat until I go and get him from his cot. He is obsessed with trains and cars, and will spend ages pushing his toy cars back and forth. We’ve taken him swimming a couple of times this month and watching the look on his face has probably been the highlight for me. Also he’s learnt how to properly use his scooter, which is amazing and terrifying in equal measures! He also had his first haircut, which was so cute, and he was actually pretty relaxed about the whole thing!
It might not sound like much, but Sam went away for a few days and I managed to stay really calm and didn’t let my anxiety get the better of me, yay!
As usual, I have way too many photos. I love this one of Sam and I at a wedding…
