Sixteen months old

For someone that calls themselves a (sort of) parenting blogger, I do very few parenting posts, so I thought I’d amend that. The last Dougie update I did was on his birthday, which was four months ago now, and so much has changed since then…

Keep your little ones warm at Christmas

This year is Dougie’s second Christmas, and while he doesn’t understand exactly what it is, he is obviously a lot more aware than he was last year and is definitely picking up on the excitement. We decided to have a festive family weekend, which obviously meant we had to wear Christmas jumpers, drink hot chocolate…

Things you shouldn’t say to a first-time Mum

Maybe I’m just being a big grump, or overly-sensitive, but one thing I’ve found since becoming a parent is that people want to share their opinions. I love hearing advice and opinions from other parents, and I love being able to chat about Dougie with friends of mine, but there are some comments and questions…

One year old

Today Dougie is one year old. I know I’ve said this a thousand times, but I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone.

All the little things: August

I know I say this every month, but I can’t believe it’s the end of the month! This time last year I was (im)patiently waiting for Dougie to arrive, and now he’s nearly a year old – how is that possible?!?!? August has felt like a very busy month; I don’t remember the last time…

Babies in restaurants

Babies in restaurants. Is it a controversial topic?! I certainly never thought it was. Before I had a baby, I never minded babies in restaurants at all, why shouldn’t they be there?! If the baby got upset, I would feel bad for the parents but again, I wouldn’t give it a second thought – babies…

I’m sorry, but I’m all touched out

I’ve always been quite an affectionate person. I love nothing more than curling up on the sofa with Sam, giving him a kiss, sharing hugs when I see friends and family, but lately, something has changed. Lately, I’m all touched out.

614 days

614 days ago, my body stopped being my own. A new life was growing inside of me, and my body began changing from the second Dougie was created. I didn’t know immediately; I was around six weeks when I found out I was expecting. My body was not just mine anymore.

All the little things: July

We seem to be hurtling towards the end of the year. July was fairly busy but a really nice month, I got to see a lot of friends and family. My Dad came down to look after Dougie while Sam was away and it was lovely to see him, and we’ve been doing a lot…

World Breastfeeding Week

This week is World Breastfeeding Week and I wanted to write about my breastfeeding story.

Baby photoshoot with Barrett and Coe

While my camera roll is completely full of shots of Dougie – blurred photos of crawling, awkward selfies and messy teatime images – I’ve always wanted some more professional photos that we can share with our families and hang up proudly in our home.

A day in the life

I love reading posts about people’s day-to-day life on their blogs, I think they’re such a fun way to get to know them and get more of an insight into their life – which is often a little different to a carefully selected image on Instagram or a quick, 140-character tweet!
