This has been the most amazing year for me. I wanted to do a round-up of some of my favourite 2017 moments and memories. There have been a lot, so I’ll try to be concise…
This year has been amazing for everything family-related. This time last year we were trying to find our feet and adapt to being a family of three, and although every day is different, I feel like we’ve got our own little family routine. I don’t know where to begin with Dougie. At the beginning of the year he was desperately trying to roll over, barely sleeping and feeding every second he could. He’s grown into the cheekiest, most charming and lovely toddler. He runs around, he gives kisses, he hides our remotes, he dances to music and he reaches up to us whenever he sees us. I love him more than anything, and he makes us so happy. Having Dougie has also meant that we’ve seen more of our families, which is really lovely.
The one sad thing was that our dog, Freddie, has had to go to live with Sam’s family. He was getting extremely anxious with Dougie around and while we tried to make it work, we wanted to do what was best for him, and it means we get to see him lots.
This has been the most amazing year for Sam and I. Our relationship has definitely changed over the past year – having a baby and minimal sleep can be extremely difficult, but we have gotten through it. Also, have I mentioned that we got married this year?! I apologise for how much I’ve gone on about it, but it was honestly the most incredible day, and I would very much like to go back and do it all again please. Sam and I had quite a long engagement and that made the day even more special, as well as the fact that Dougie was able to be there with us.
Now we have Dougie, holidays and traveling have to be a lot more thought out then before! Sam and I took Dougie to Portugal when he was 6 months old. It was our first trip abroad with Dougie and it was really lovely. It was a very different holiday to what we were used to, but it was so much fun, and I can’t wait to go on more trips with Dougie. We went to Mexico for our honeymoon, and it was an amazing two weeks. Dougie stayed with Sam’s family for a week, and then with mine, which was hard as we missed him so much. He obviously had a great time though, and I think it was a good thing for us to do, as a honeymoon is a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
This year I’ve put a lot of time and effort into my blog, and I think it’s starting to pay off. I’ve had a couple of sponsored posts, been fortunate enough to collaborate with some brands, and I’m excited for 2018 as I have loads of ideas. I’m even offering advertising which I’m really excited about. I’ve made some of the most incredible friends through blogging, and having been lucky enough to meet some of them this year too.
I mentioned above about some of the amazing friends I’ve made through blogging, but I’ve also made the most incredible friends through NCT (our antenatal group). Over the last year we’ve become so close, they were my absolute lifeline, especially in the first few months, and they all came to our wedding which meant a lot to me.
This one probably seems like quite an indulgent section, but there are a couple of things this year that I’m really proud of. I ran the London Marathon in April, raising money for the South Leicester Memory Cafes. It was only a few months after I’d given birth to Dougie, and I’m incredibly proud of myself for doing it. I also passed my driving test on my fifth attempt which made me SO happy.
For me, 2017 was an amazing year, and I’m not one to brag, but I’m pretty proud of the things I’ve achieved this year. I have a few pretty big plans for 2018, one is work-related that I don’t want to say too much about just yet, but I’m also hoping to work on and improve my blog, take Dougie on a lovely family holiday, pay off my credit cards and run…maybe not a full marathon again, but a half at least!
What’s one thing you’re most proud of from 2017?
