This year has been full of special dates; we celebrated Dougie’s first birthday, it was our five-year anniversary and we got married earlier this month.

I wanted to get something really special to mark these occasions, but I wasn’t sure what, and then I discovered The Night Sky*.

When you walk into our home, you’ll see that it’s filled with photos and prints. We have photos of our travels around the world, prints from the Wildlife Photography Exhibition which we’ve been to every year we’ve been together and lots of artwork, and each piece is special to us.

The Night Sky lets you create a custom map of the night sky from any date you want, and then it is printed on high quality matte paper, sized 50cm x 70cm.

There are other options for customising – you can personalise the map with a message, choose to have constellations, a grid or just the stars in the sky. You can choose different colours for the prints, and focus on the night sky in a particular location.

I planned to make one to commemorate our wedding – the night sky on 4th November 2017 in London, and I loved the idea so much, I decided to create one to mark Dougie’s birth, which we put up on his 1st birthday.

I decided to get both the prints in midnight blue. For Dougie’s print I put his full name, the hospital he was born in, and I chose to include the constellations. For our wedding print, I also chose to feature the constellations and I simply wrote our names and the park where we celebrated our wedding.

Our photographer took some photos of Sam and I dancing outside our venue the night of our wedding, and I think of this every time I see our wedding print.

I cannot fault the quality of these prints, they are absolutely beautiful, and they arrived very quickly. They are such a lovely, thoughtful way to mark an occasion, and they look absolutely beautiful in our home. Dougie’s hangs up in his room, and we have our wedding print in our bedroom, and they honestly make me smile whenever I see them.

What night would you choose to commemorate?

*The Night Sky kindly sent me these prints free of charge in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
