Traffic light smoothies

Smoothies are such a good way to make sure you’re getting plenty of fruit and veg, and there’s a bit of a health kick going on in our flat at the moment, which is great.

I’ve been trying out a few new recipes and wanted to share my three favourites…

Red Smoothie

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 bananas
  • Handful of mixed berries – I used strawberries, raspberries and blackberries

This is one I sometimes add a handful of oats to if I want a thicker, more breakfast-y smoothie 🙂 I prefer using fresh berries but using frozen berries means your smoothie will be lovely and cold.

Yellow Smoothie

  • 2 bananas
  • Handful of chopped mango
  • 3tbsp yoghurt – I used mango and passionfruit yoghurt to keep the yellow theme, but it tastes good with Greek or vanilla yoghurt too!
  • The yoghurt and banana can make it quite thick, so I usually add in a dash of water

Green Smoothie

  • Handful of chopped spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of water
  • Handful of chopped mango
  • 1tsp peanut butter

I think this one is my favourite. The peanut butter gives it a nice sweetness, and if you prefer smoothies to be thicker, then you can add an extra banana.
