Simple chocolate tiffin
I felt like making something tasty this morning, but also wanted it to be quick and easy – I’m currently marathoning How To Get Away With Murder so naturally I didn’t want to be spending too long in the kitchen!
I have a bit of a sweet tooth so I decided to make chocolate tiffin…
Really easy recipe:
400g chocolate (I went for Galaxy)
150g Golden Syrup
10 broken biscuits (I used digestives – this can be amended depending on how much you like biscuits)
150g nuts and raisins (again, if you don’t like nuts or have allergies, use extra biscuits or even dried fruit)
Line a tray with baking paper. The size of tin you use is dependent on how thick you like your tiffin – I used a 20x20cm tray as I wanted it to be quite thick.
Melt 350g of your chocolate, butter and golden syrup together until you have a lovely smooth mixture. Keep the remaining chocolate for an extra layer at the end…
Add in the biscuits and nuts and mix it all together.
Pour it into your tray and put it into the fridge for at least two hours.
If you find your mixture looks more like nuts and biscuits than chocolate, you could melt your emergency chocolate and spread it over the top once it’s in the tray – I did this and I think it helped the mixture to bond better in the fridge.
Then you’re done!
Once it’s properly cooled, lift it out of the tray and cut it into whatever shapes and sizes you want.
I’d love to hear what you think if anyone tries this recipe – let me know in the comments!
